Workshops:
30 -3 PM Money Saving Programs by Aging Pathways (formerly Senior Linkage Line) Learn about programs that can lower Medicare premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. Find out about who qualifies, how to apply for assistance and learn about program benefits. Medicare preventive services, like free screenings, vaccines and wellness visits will also be covered.
15 - 4 PM Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance by Trellis Discover the gentle, proven movements of Tai Ji Quan. Based on traditional Tai Chi, this evidence-based program helps improve strength, balance, and mobility. It's an easy-to-learn, low-impact exercise that's safe for a wide range of abilities and a great way to stay active and independent.
- 5 PM Healthcare Directives: Are You Prepared? by U of M Extension Services With only 38% of Minnesotans having completed a health care directive (HCD), and most people avoiding these critical conversations, this session provides clarity and actionable strategies. Attendees will learn the difference between a living will and an HCD, understand common myths and facts, and review policies and practices related to decision-making rights in times of incapacity. The workshop also provides guidance on completing a suggested HCD form and offers strategies for initiating conversations about end-of-life issues with family members.
15-5:45 PM Castor Cabaret: A Taste of Wellness Arts Ready to step onto the stage of self-care? This inclusive low-pressure workshop is designed for all ages and abilities. We will explore accessible, gentle movement including chair or standing stretches. We'll also sample fun, seated or standing dance choreography and feature a little chorus sing-along for all who like to sing.
