Board of Directors

  • Dr. Leonardo Candelario-Perez (they/them) is a Latinx, queer and bilingual clinical psychologist, licensed in Minnesota.  Dr. Leo has over a decade of experience and is currently The Mayo Clinic’s full time Senior Associate Consultant in the Transgender and Intersex Specialty Care Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. They have a bachelors in psychology from Fordham University,  a PhD from Albizu University in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and completed a postdoctoral program in human sexuality and gender at the UMN’s Institute for Sex and Gender Health. Dr. Leo is Board President and provides advice on program development and delivery. 

  • Kate Kilian (she/her) is a long-time member of the Twin Cities Queer community. As an out and proud bisexual woman she has been involved in organizations, including Queerspace Collective, Quorum Young Professionals, OutFront Minnesota, PFund, and Minnesotans United for all Families. She is passionate about bringing the Queer community together for mutual support and visibility. Kate provides support for fund development, event planning and partnership development. 

  • Monica Herrera (Mon - they/them) is a Latine queer public health professional. Mon has a bachelor’s degree in Global Public Health from the University of Iowa. They have almost a decade of experience in public health programming; COVID testing and vaccination events, community engagement, research, grant management, and sexual and reproductive health services with a harm reduction and gender expansive approach. Five of these years being in Minnesota and working at Minnesota Community Care serving within Ramsey county. Mon has partnered with numerous communities: Latine, Rural, Urban, Indigenous (Meskwaki Nation and Pine Ridge Reservation), Queer, and many others. Mon brings these skills and values into their role as a board member and Treasurer for Q-munity. 

  • Charlie Gee (they/them or ask) is a white, genderfluid junior at Macalester College. They have 5 years of experience in graphic design, event planning, and community organizing. Their activism started as a high schooler in Iowa, where they advocated against anti-trans legislation, organizing a protest and simplifying dense bills into accessible news briefs. Currently, they're involved in their school's undergraduate workers union as well as divestment campaign. They volunteer with MacShare to provide accessible, healthy food to the community at-cost or subsidized. For fun, they write poetry, make art, and edit their school's literary magazine. They're interested in fostering programming at Q-Munity related to art, education, supporting trans folks, and more, all of which coincide with their values and experience. They bring an additional intergenerational perspective to the board, as well as a willingness to learn and try new things.

  • Jen Cabot (she/her) is an Asian single mother of two BIPOC Queer children. Community activism and engagement for the betterment of all underrepresented people is a priority for her whole family. In her work as an end-of-life doula and reiki practitioner, she is committed to offering perspectives and skills in wellness and healing to underserved communities. Jen supports fund development and event planning. 

  • Micheala Sharp (she/they) serves as the board secretary and provides marketing, communications, content creation, and project management support. Born and raised in Chicago, from the Cabrini-Green projects (think Good Times), Micheala identifies as Black, queer, and nonbinary (think Janelle Monáe) and has a strong fondness for anime (like Megan Thee Stallion). Having attended international, community-oriented schools throughout their life, they are a skilled cross-cultural mediator. In the Twin Cities, they forged lifelong connections while attending Macalester College, where they graduated with a degree in Classics and Critical Theory.

    With over six years of experience in marketing and communications, Micheala began their career at the Minnesota Budget Project (2019) and the ACLU of Minnesota (2019-2020). During this time, they developed deep ties to the Twin Cities community through digital campaigns for initiatives such as the Child Tax Credit, Get Out the Vote, and live reporting during the George Floyd Rebellion. Micheala then transitioned to food marketing with Ingredient (2020-2024), collaborating with major brands like Lunds & Byerlys, General Mills, and Nongshim USA. As a true student of media and culture, Micheala strives to connect people—one post, one paragraph, one moment at a time.
